Dave and Peg Walch

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is with immense pride and joy that we introduce our Grand Marshals for this year’s parade: Peggy and Dave Walch.

Peggy’s roots trace back to Iowa, but her journey truly began when she met Dave in Winona while attending The College of St. Teresa, where she was a proud member of the swim team. After spending 10 years in Milwaukee, they found their forever home in our beloved town. Over the years, Peggy has been a pillar of this community—volunteering countless hours for school sports and the Cheese Days committee, writing sports articles for the Plainview News, and dedicating 20 years to faith formation at Elgin Catholic Center. A longtime advocate for youth sports, she is especially known for dispersing candy and treats after games.  She also played softball for 50 years, including 27 years right here in Elgin.  With a career spanning 50 years as a Dietitian, she touched the lives of so many in local nursing homes and care facilities. Active in St. Joachim Church and always cheering on her children and grandchildren.

Dave graduated from Plainview HS where he was a 3 sport athlete.  Dave served in the military and was stationed in Germany where he had the unique experience of traveling around Germany as a member of the US Military Football Team.  Professionally he has made his living locally in sales mainly in water treatment and real estate / farm land.  Dave has been a true champion for youth sports in our community, he coached youth soccer and basketball, served as an AAU basketball volunteer, chain crew member for Elgin Millville and PEM football, and a referee for youth basketball.

Together, Dave and Peggy have been incredibly involved in both the school system and community events, regularly attending meetings, concerts, and sporting events. Both are “Super Fans” of local sports teams—continuing to attend games even 25 years after her last child graduated. They have raised four children and take great pride in their eight grandchildren.

It’s an honor to have such devoted, hardworking individuals as our Grand Marshals today. Please join me in celebrating Peggy and Dave Walch—two people who have given so much to make our town the vibrant, close-knit community we cherish today!"
