Ron is a life long resident of Elgin. Besides being a star in high school athletics, he served on the early ambulance crew, was a fireman for 26 years, a Legion member for 56 years and a past Lions member. He and Roberta joined the family business in 1974 after getting married. Kurth Bus Service operated school bus service for Elgin-Millville Schools and Plainview Schools. Ron also coached girls soccer for 23 years and was the young girls basketball coach for many years.

 

Roberta has been a resident of Elgin for over 50 years and has always been active in politics. She spent the last 20 years helping establish Great River Ridge Trail, a 13 mile trail that runs through Elgin.

 

Ron and Roberta have 3 successful daughters and 3 great sons-in-law: Kareen (Kory) Bigalk, Karla (Paul) Appel, and Kim (Adam) Lyons, and 8 beautiful grandchildren: James, Lila, and Peyton Bigalk, Isabel and Evelyn Appel, Blake Burdick, Brody and Beau Lyons.
